Hello, lovely readers!

I’ve only read two of Brandon Sanderson’s books, but I feel confident in saying that I don’t think his books could ever disappoint me. If anything, after reading this book, my expectations have been raised even higher. This book has found a spot on the list of the best books I have ever read!

Early on, this book reminded me of Six of Crows. Only, instead of a heist, this criminal crew planned a rebellion to overthrow a tyrant ruler. It could have been easy to give up on a plot on as large a scale as this was, but after only a few pages, I was hooked completely.

There were many plot points I was surprised by and twists I didn’t see coming, but looking back now, I should have realized what was coming. None of the twists were impossible to predict and the author left many clues for us readers to notice.

Each and every character was fascinating to read about and their individual stories were compelling. I enjoyed and savoured each POV, and grew to be so attached to these characters that a death near the end had me sobbing in the late hours of the night.

The author has created an amazingly logical, scientific magic system that feels incredibly real and tangible. Each aspect of magic use is well-thought-out and explained in a way that anyone can understand.

Many fantasy authors are prone to using purple prose in their books and usually I love it, but Brandon Sanderson’s writing is refreshingly simple and to the point, which I really enjoyed.

That’s it!

Which book made you bawl your eyes out?

Till we meet again!
Xx Alexia
