Wow, talk about a book that had me smiling the whole way through!
The Spanish Love Deception is definitely the fluffiest book I’ve read in a long, long time. Witty banter, adorable blushing, and a few flustered moments all contribute to Aaron and Catalina’s chemistry. After finishing this book, it struck me like lightning how perfect they are for each other.
There are only a few romance books where, with 100% conviction, I can say that these two are meant for each other, and this book is one of those few occurrences.
It’s not so much their appearances or personalities, but rather how thoughtful they are and the dynamic their relationship produces. There is so much quiet love in Aaron’s actions that it’s hard not to smile like a maniac throughout the 486 pages. Catalina was such a cutie pie and I really liked her POV, but she must be legally blind because even in the first chapter, I could tell Aaron had a crush on her.
I’m not entirely sure if this book is a debut but if it is, my mind is blown.
The one flaw this book had for me was the spice. I know that this is more of a preference and that is book is really meant as a romantic comedy, but with such a slow (and frankly amazing) slow-burn, I was expecting more spice.
Once again, I realize this is a preference, but the disappointment slightly distracted me from the ending of the novel. Which was a shame because the emotional scene between Aaron and Catalina at the hospital was enough to bring a tear to my eye.
Despite the miscommunication near the end (a trope I hate with my entire being) and light spice, I really enjoyed this book. It was a happy ending, one that left me smiling ear to ear, and I can’t wait to read Elena Armas next book.
I’ve definitely been binging more romance this year, but who cares? It’s fun!
Until we meet again!
