First Line Friday (pt.3)

We’re almost at the end of August!

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?  If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
  • Finally… reveal the book!

If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!

The Line

Look, I’m aware that you’re here for an epic tale of intrigue and mystery and adventure and near death and actual death, but in order to get to that (unless you want to skip to chapter 13 – I’m not your boss), you’re going to have to deal with the fact that I, April May, in addition to being one of the most important things that has ever happened to the human race, am also a woman in her twenties who has made some mistakes.

The Hints

This author is the brother of another well-known author, who has published several contemporary teen books, many of which have been adapted to TV or films.

The cover is blue with neon green letters.

The title is quite long.

There are aliens in this book.

Have you got it yet?

The Reveal

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing: 9781473224193: Amazon.com: Books

This was definitely one of the more popular books that I ended up not enjoying.

I thought that having aliens would make the book more enjoyable, but I was disappointed.

You can read my review here!

That’s it!

Did you guess the book correctly?

Till we meet again!
Xx Alexia
