Book Beginnings:
From a place high above the clouds, all you can make out is an expanse of green. The colour is deep, almost bottle, and from here it looks like the velvet upholstery of old dining chairs you’d find in a stately home or colonial houses.
This author definitely likes to play around with prose, but it’s not too much and is still understandable.
The Friday 56:
I wait for a few minutes and then push the doorbell again. Instantly, a frowning Tony appears from the office and opens the door. He lets me in silently and begins to lead me toward the visitor’s book. I stop him.
“I’m here about my coat,” I say, “not to visit.”
Tony definitely is a strange character and I’m wondering what part he’s going to play in the story. So far, I’m intrigued! The mystery makes me want to read on and find out what happened.
